Many people when arriving in Thailand, do not really know what to expect, and know very little about the country and the people. However once they have been to Thailand once or twice, they will be sure to return, it is a kingdom that offers many marvels of undiscovered enchantment. With surprises and delights around every corner your trip to Thailand will open your eyes to a new world.
Thailand is exotic yet accessible, with something for every visitor. Relax on white sand beaches, hike through vast areas of tropical forest, or live it up in the humming capital of Bangkok. There is much for you to discover in Thailand. The country offers a huge range of new experiences in sights, sounds, tastes, and outlook. But different as it may be from your home, Thailand is probably the easiest exotic country for visitors. The people are friendly, leisure activities are well organized, the food is great and you receive excellent value for money.
The biggest word of advice is to travel light. Most items are easily available for purchase in Thailand – especially clothes. A favorite word of how to pack is to take half of your items out of your bag and leave them at home. Although we never really have to carry bags further than 100m and always go out or our way to assist you, a good rule of thumb is that if you can't manage your bag yourself, you've packed too much.
As your adventures usually involve a mixture of urban and rural locations, here are some suggestions:
Sense of Adventure Personal travel-medical insurance
Comfortable walking shoes (leave your uncomfortable ones at home!)
Sandals
Rain Jacket Casual shorts
Day-pack Swimming Suit Long pants (for temples)
T-shirts and at least one collared shirt with sleeves
Sunhat Sunscreen
Camera
Tampons
Insect spray (especially for those venturing to the far north)
Passport with at least six months of validity
In the event that you visit a nightclub, nice restaurant or attend a concert, you may want to pack something to fit the occasion for Active adventures (cycling trips and Summit Siam) you may wish to bring your own cycling helmet, gloves, biking shorts, hydration pack and clipless pedals if you have some at home you enjoy
Consult your local health authority regarding immunizations and medications you may wish to acquire before the journey (malaria tablets, typhoid, Hepatitis A and B)
Things like sunglasses, t-shirts and sandals are REALLY cheap in Thailand. So if you don’t own them now – don’t worry, buy them here!
Carry a cellular telephone on all adventures, so any unforeseen need for assistance is always just a phone call away. Thailand boasts a world-class cellular telephone network that services nearly every corner of the country.
Thailand’s hospitals are some of the best in Asia and all cities have readily available care and facilities. Accidents can happen at home, just as they can when on vacation. Although every attempt is made to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience, remember that accidents are just that – unplanned occurrences. We insists that each participant be equipped with his/her own personal travel insurance (including medical emergencies) for the duration of their trip. We guarantee to always put your interests and safety before our own so you can have the experience of a lifetime.
Health Precautions
The following is a list of possible ailments occassionally found in Thailand:
Diphtheria & Tetanus
Polio
Hepatitis A
Typhoid
Cholera
Hepatitis B
Rabies
Japanese B Encephalitis
Tuberculosis
Malaria
Although this list may seem frightening, most people never experience anything more than an upset stomach. The best way to avoid any health problems while in Thailand is to take proper pre-departure preparations.
Please contact your local Health Authority or family doctor to receive proper, accurate and personal advice to meet your individual needs.
Thai food is something we’re really passionate about. In a culture with a highly cultivated sense of taste, mealtime is an opportunity to experiment, indulge and enjoy traditional ‘family-style’ dining. This is how we like to approach meals too, sharing many dishes amongst the group. This way you’ll get to try an incredible array food, including famous Thai curries, dazzling sauces, fresh aromatic herbs, pungent spices and an abundance of fresh greens and exotic ingredients.
