As the saying says Jerusalem is the City of Gold, it is one of the most affluent areas in the entire country, it is a city of many faces, yet a greater number of families are living below the poverty level in simple words they are poor barely eat a meal a day. They are invisible and their numbers are staggering and most of all they are eligible for government programs. At the same time, government programs are disappearing and the barriers to entitlement grow larger by the day. Many households appear often face limited or uncertain availability of food for a day how much more for SHABBAT. A situation like this, the Shabbat Gift Box Project was launched as a family-based SHABBAT food program to reach out the marginalized and distressed families with the intent of mending the rifts. Giving them the precious gift one can ever give a mitzvah that unifies all, perhaps the last mitzvah that brings us together religious and secular. There is no other mitzvah capable of yielding such an effect on Israeli society.

Our mission is to unite the entire nation together into a single heart, a heart that is sensitive to the troubles of the individual, a heart that concerns itself with those who are different, so that we once again become "a single person, with a single heart." Our goal to restore the glory of every family and ensure that will enable them to develop spiritually and feel a connection and sense of belonging to their roots, culture and community.

SHABBAT GIFT BOX is a weekly initiative complete with FREE KOSHER FOOD for Shabbat observance to be delivered right at the doorsteps of every recipient family every Friday before SHABBAT.
