INTRODUCTION

Sponsor A Student (SAS) Project is one of the programs of Zenith Zion Ltd addressing the basic educational needs of the youth at risk - as the target recipients. The ideology behind in launching the SAS Project is to create a holistic program, where the target recipient viewed as a unique being. A program where the recipients will at their own pace, according to their choice of activities, and according to their own readiness considering that they been learning in the yeshiva for a span of time.

The founder of
Zenith Zion Ltd consider various factors and consultations were taken into account in the development and designing a comprehensive program with an individualized learning strategy specifically designed for the recipients which aims to develop a dynamic youth along with strong moral values and the passion for learning.

Considering that the target recipients of the projects are socially integrated, learned for a span of time in yeshiva schools exploring their deepest roots, strive to understand what it means to be Jewish, seek the intense spiritual development that they desire, and reach deep inside to discover their own profound personal relationships with Torah, the Jewish People, and the Land of Israel.

Such intense relationship and environment the youth has been forced to go to such pressure to the verge of breaking up. This is a scenario that can not be denied, that brought to the development of the
SAS Project of  Zenith Zion Ltd to bring together students from all walks of life and from all levels of Jewish background to encourage one another to incorporate and share the knowledge, talents and experiences that one already possess in their spiritual journey through educational and life skills program that combines rigorous study  of the basic education that they lack without abandoning their Torah learning that will infuse to their lives with joy, understanding in a meaningful ways.

Zenith Zion Ltd is about Jews coming together, to share, to help one another to actualize and achieve the extraordinary personal and collective potentials that we possess. It is not just a Yeshiva. It is a model of Jewish learning and growth for the future generation. It is a project of picking up the pieces and to complete the process and the whole picture in molding our youth.

The Problem / Situation

In recent years, the number of yeshiva students is simply cut out for the rigorous demands of full time Torah study, has risen dramatically; and many of those who do not fit into the yeshiva world do not make the successful transition into a career in the way that some who were successful. Moreover, some who remain in yeshiva find their lives unfulfilling, some observant says that those students sitting there are broken; they don’t belong there; they feel they’re going nowhere. They are choking, burned out and cannot go on learning.

As a result, they abandoned their studies, resigning themselves to failure. The problem of these youths has  alarmingly increased, which have crossed the line; they spend their days wandering the streets, movie theaters, city squares, and anywhere that a yeshiva boy should not be while remaining formally enrolled in the yeshiva schools.  They have reached-even to the point of committing murder, becomes thieves and etc in other words they become Shababnikim - a menace to the society.

The problem is that from the moment they start hanging out on the streets, meeting different people, girls, and perhaps coming into physical contact with them- they are rejected by Haredi society. In the Haredi society, yeshiva dropouts means drop out of the entire community. In many cases, these youths are no longer welcome in their own homes because of the embarrassment the family received from the society, and wind up living on the street or in government-run youth hostels.

The crisis has become too widespread to sweep under the rug. The biggest reason of the problems such as the shababnikim and the decision of many youths to leave religion entirely is the lack of legitimate alternatives to full-time study. Zenith Zion Ltd on the other hand, has seen the alarming increase of these youths at risk. They are simply kids who are unable to sit for a whole day in yeshiva and learn Talmud. They need fresh air, to let off steam.

Whatever the issue of these youth,
SAS Project provide them counseling, emotional, practical support, and solution as an alternative that can save, develop, and help them to move forward with their lives and be a well rounded human being.
II. MISSION

who are willing to attend, learn and make a change of their lives.
               b) Students who are married and who had been in the yeshiva but don’t have
                        any skills and qualifications.
               c) Students who are on the verge of getting out from the yeshiva,  that need to steam
                           off.
               d) Students who are studying at the yeshiva but would like to learn the basic
                         education and life skills training.

V. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

As education is a fundamental human right and the basis for creating social change and development SAS PROJECT was designed to promote education among the Jewish youth at risk. The program is a holistic approach that recognizes each learner to be unique and that requires basic education and life skills trainings regardless of their physical, intellectual, social, emotional, linguistic or other differences.

The program will take place both within and outside educational institutions, and will cater for students of all ages. Depending on the student’s educational assessment, it covers educational programs to impart literacy, basic ‘3 R’S’, life-skills, work-skills, and general culture. The program does not necessarily follow the 'ladderized' system, may have varying durations and may or may not confer certification of the learning achieved

The program will have to walk a fine line, in the implementation and promoting the project where the sponsors, stakeholders and others involved could be accused of luring students away from yeshiva. And to allay fears of such situation the
Zenith Zion Ltd project was carefully designed that will not nip the budding careers of the target recipients various factors was considered. For married one, courses are given at night, to allow them to continue in “kollel” during the day, and to ease their transition from the learning community to the working world. And for those who already have left the yeshiva will undergone an intensive training during the day and will be encourage to return back to learn Torah. In cases, where students who would like to make sacrifices of learning both will be accepted depends on their capabilities of coping up the burden and pressures of learning. Special emphasis will be given to the youth at risk as they are our future and the most important building blocks of our society.

Zenith Zion Ltd strongly believes in making them economically independent through addressing their real needs, allows them to ultimately acquire the necessary life skills for surviving and improving their lives in the present and rapidly changing world and make them feel that there are people in the world who do love and care for them we will produce a good leaders and strong generations.
